FRCC and related tools Questionnaire 
In 2013, the NWCG Fuels Management Committee and the Wildland Fire Management RD&A Fuels and Fire Ecology program requested a questionnaire on the FRCC concept and related tools be developed. The University of Idaho and the U.S. Forest Service Washington Office Fire Ecology and Fuels Program assisted and funded the project.
Summary of results.
NRCS Plant Code List - NRCS plant codes are part of the databases that support the FRCC software application. Plant codes from the NRCS list are auto-populated into the software reports, and common plant codes appear for each seral stage. Users can create a customized pick-list of common species from the NRCS plant code list and apply in their FRCC analyses.
The Nature Conservancy's Vegetation Departure Calculator (VDC) - Provides an extensive look at vegetation conditions across the U.S. The VDC, an MS Excel spreadsheet, allows users to interactively summarize and compare current vegetation conditions in different ways (geography, agency, protected status, ecoregion, portfolio status, etc.) using consistent and comprehensive data.

The FRCC course was designed to give the participant the background information necessary to understand FRCC assessments.The course included key theories, principles, and concepts; role of policy and law; and FRCC resources. The participant conducted a simulated FRCC assessment with real-world application.
Biophysical Settings (BpS) Resources
The LF National Biophysical Settings Model Descriptions (called "Vegetation Dynamics Model Descriptions" on landfire.gov) define the vegetation, geography, biophysical characteristics, succession stages, disturbance regimes, and assumptions for each BpS and are designed to accompany the quantitative state and transition models.
